Cashier??

My office's cashier is drivin me nuts!

When I started to work for my dad in late 2004, I dun really have a specific job assigned to. He just wants me focused on controlling the financial transactions in the company. Well, I wont be doin a good job controlling unless I did some of the documentation entry myself so there I was, doing some of my cashier's job of credit/banking entries. Meanwhile, my cashier who did both entries for cash and credits, just concentrate on her cash journals and passed it up to me for checks.

Its not a complicated task, except theres a lot of calculating involved and since it involves money in and out of the company's 'pocket', we haf to be really careful in counting. So, I does the whole controlling job: reading and checking through entries of both bank and cash transactions -and- oso make entries for the bank's accounts (yes, theres a few accounts so I'm extra buzy)

Now, I have more tasks to do since I oso haf to check our wood's stock and produce weekly production report for my production manager, which is kinda complicated because we have lots of both semi-processed goods and finished goods in our stock balance and production area; not to mention theres so much different sizes of wood being produced. Beside this, I also have to count the amount of raw materials (in this case, wood logs) coming in the factory and different sizes have different pricing rules so I am extremely busy with all these stock and production counts.

Well, I told my cashier that she can work on her old task again: making journals not only for the cash but oso credits and just passed it to me for checkings. BUT no, she haf to spend her time chit-chatting on the phone with her friends, or gossiping with other not-so-busy colleagues and she tells me: " I dun really have enuff time to does both job, u know. Currently, theres really lots of money notes countings that I gotta do." OF COURSE...if you count the hours wasted to do chat bull-s**t. I didn't ask her to do that task intentionally to make her suffer with over-work, I am just too busy with so much errands and since all of them involve numbers, I dun wanna over-stuffed myself and make careless mistake by calculating wrongly. I mean, "u did the job before I joined the company, u should be able to do the job again now." So, I insisted to her that she should does all these money entries again...she holds the role of A CASHIER rite? Not juzt a petty-cash cashier.

She does her job very slowly and sometimes does a lot of careless calculations but she's honest when it comes to money and that's what my dad is looking for. I never thought of changing her with a new cashier but I just hope she will does thing more EFFICIENTLY and EFFECTIVELY. That way, not only she will be able to do all the job I assigns her to do, she will oso be able to enjoy some extra free time to do whatever she likes.

Like todae, I am extremely frustrated by her because:

. Some money comin in to our bank accounts and the person sending that money has already sent us the bank transfer slip. We are supposed to attach that transfer slip with the relevant invoice, write the entries and file the documents to the bank account's folder. But NO, she haf to go and find the human resource staff and chit chattin about the factory labourers behind who just given birth and start gossipin rubbish about that "new mummy and the brand of baby milk she's buying etc etc" while I am very busy computing and calculating production datas and cant do that bank entry myself. Then when I asked her why she haven't do it, she told me shes busy...yeah...BZ CHATTIN!

.One of our wood sellers came in the office to claim his cheque and I didn't notice because I was too occupied lookin at my computer screen. She wrote the cheque up and put it on my table so I can sign the cheque. Then she busy gossipin about some curry stalls near her house with her friend on the phone and becoz of that, my production manager who has been rushed by our supplier to collect the cheque from our department couldn't reach her through the phone intercom. When the manager came in our office (yes, she and i share the same office room, with another tax auditor staff), she made reason: "But Yulie haven't even sign it yet." YEAH RITE...I didn't even knoe she put a cheque on my table at the first place coz she never notify me someone came to the office to get a cheque and she was oso too busy giggling over the phone and now she wanna blame me. I started to nag at her but she kept givin some stupid reasons and finally I just walk out from the room and walk behind rounding the factory area OR ELSE I might just explode with anger and I dun wanna embarrass her in public! I dun expect her to work all the time and can't do other stuff during working hours. As long as she finiz her job for the day, I dun giv a damn if she wanna chat on the phone for hours!
